WVU/Oklahoma Just Played One Of The Best Games In College Basketball And Naturally It Wasn't On TV

Look, I get that it's a business decision to have a top-15 game on ESPN+. You have to find ways to make money. But, I'm in the business of wanting to see college basketball grow. I love the sport more than pretty much anything in my life. Always have, always will. It's why college basketball was a part of my wedding that I didn't even plan. So, yeah, in a year where every traditional blue blood fucking sucks, I would like the best games of the season to be highlighted for casual fans. People tuning in now that football is over with aren't going to ESPN+ to watch this game. They are flipping through the channels and end up watching whatever is on. That's how you miss this:

I talked about Oklahoma earlier this week and this was another chance for them to prove they are for real. They were slotted as a 3 seed earlier today with the top-16 reveal of the bracket. People immediately questioned them being there because they are outside the top-20 in KenPom and got their ass kicked by Xavier. But now they swept WVU, won at Texas, beat Alabama and Kansas at home. Not too shabby. Again, I just wish this was on regular TV. I want my sport to be seen by the casual fan at its best. Instead of being stuck watching games that are awful and immediately getting 'this sport sucks. Nobody knows how to play' and all the other typical hot takes from casual fans, I wish they saw this. We need it more this year considering casual fans who put on games with traditional blue bloods will want to throw up watching them play.

The Big 12 Tournament is just going to be absolutely wild. Don't get me wrong, Baylor will be the heavy favorite, but you look at Oklahoma, WVU, Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Kansas and it's wide open. There's a reason they had 5 teams in the top-16 today. I still can't believe Culver didn't finish that layup today. It was a wild finish with WVU forcing a tie up with 7 seconds to go, then nearly turning it over on the inbound then the final play.

We need to implement flex scheduling. Hell, I'll run it for the leagues. I miss having good late night games - we had Oregon/Arizona at 2pm. You can't listen to Bill Walton at 2pm on a Saturday. Let's get the best games on national TV after the football season ends so we can get more people involved in this beautiful, stupid sport.
