Soccer Twitter going hard at Hulkster today

Wrestler Hulk Hogan poses for a photo during the Electronic Entertainment Expo or E3 in Los Angeles

Sup y’all,

I usually stick to weekend previews and betting guides, thus leaving the day-to-day soccer-related blogging to Gato Grande, but sometimes things happen that are just too important for me not to add my two cents.

The first was when Sepp Blatters abruptly resigned from FIFA this spring (post HERE).

The second occurred this morning when, out of nowhere, Soccer Twitter – known more for a lack of biceps and a heightened sensitivity to perceived disrespect about the game they love – came together to troll Hulk Hogan. The formula was pretty simple:

1) Tweet a picture of “yourself” and your “black mate” to The Hulkster.
2) Include a message of support against all the spurious* allegations that he is a racist.
3) Watch as Hulk retweets it.

The pictures are about as random as can be:

I’ll admit that I don’t even know who some of the people in the pics are, but starting from top left and going clockwise the pics include (1) Everton’s Romelu Lukaku; (2) Arsenal’s Mathieu Flamini; (3) former Arsenal “greats” Andrey Arshavin and Emmanuel Eboue; (4) Celtic’s Efe Ambrose.

Clockwise from top left: (1) Arsenal’s Danny Welbeck and an anonymous midget [probably has AIDS]; (2) Liverpool’s Kolo Toure; (3) Adrian, Enner Valencia and several other West Ham players; (4) Drake and United’s [now retired] Rio Ferdinand.

Poor Hulk. One day you are riding high (and some other dude’s wife), the next you are getting trolled by soccer fans. Life doesn’t come at you any faster than that.

*apparently not very spurious
