This Teacher Who Made an Aerobics Video During the Myanmar Coup is My New Queen

Daily Mail - Astonishing video has emerged from Myanmar showing the moment the military staged a coup against the government - captured in the background of an aerobics workout video.

Khing Hnin Wai, a PE teacher from the capital Naypyidaw, recorded the footage outside the country's parliament building on Monday - without realising that the government was being overthrown right behind her.

The video shows Wai performing a workout routine to upbeat music, while armoured trucks and soldiers blockade the road behind her and before a convoy of police and military vehicles arrive.

Wai continues her routine even as the vehicles pass through the roadblock and then turn down a side-street towards the parliament, as the military seized full control of the government.

While some internet users called out the footage as faked, it does appear genuine. ...

But she firmly denied that on Facebook, saying that she didn't post the video 'as a joke' or 'to become a celebrity'.

I believe you, Khing Hnin Wai. I know your motivations were pure. That this wasn't about fame; it was about fitness. This wasn't a joke. It was about keeping mind, body and spirit in shape. But a celebrity you have become, nevertheless.

And in doing so, you've unknowingly set a whole new template for how I want to see all government overthrows. In fact, how I want to witness all major historic events. Think about how much better it would be to watch violent upheavals and clashes with government forces with a gym teacher leading an aerobics class in the foreground. The Capitol Riot. Antifa protests. The Hong Kong demonstrations. Tienanmen Square. Kent State. The Beer Hall Putsch. The Bolshevik Revolution. The French storming the Bastille. The Boston Massacre. All major, history-changing events. Every single one of which would've benefited from a Khing Hnin Wai showing her students how to burn those calories to that sweet, sweet, uptempo beat.

As Prince put it, "Everybody's got a bomb, we could all die any day. But before I let that happen, I'll dance my life away." And Khing Hnin Wai is living it. And inspiring the world in the process. Let's hope whatever else happens in Myanmar it stays non-violent and both sides can sit down and talk out a peaceful resolution. But while the situation is uncertain, what is not in doubt is that she's  won the hearts and minds of the world. If they put her in charge, I'll move there. Because she pulled off the coup to take control of my soul.
