The Red Carpet has been a staple in the community for 40 years. Life events for many have been held here, including weddings, retirement parties, baby showers, class reunions, and celebrations of life. Many people met their spouses here, including me.
We have employed thousands of people over the years, even hosting employee reunions. We have also staged entertainment from local bands to national acts, as well as DJs, comedians, drag shows, and burlesque troupes. We have held fundraisers for numerous causes, Super Bowl parties, company parties, sports gatherings, and political gatherings. On our 40th anniversary in December, the mayor declared it “Red Carpet Day”, even though we were shut down by the governor’s edict and couldn’t celebrate with our faithful customers.
We’ve had our share of ups and downs throughout the years, including sustaining fire damage in February from the bar next to us burning down, and the mismanagement of the University in our city causing declining enrollment and thus our customer base. But nothing has hit us like being forced to shut down completely and not even having a chance to make a living. We’ve poured our heart and soul into this business and now we’re hanging on by a thread. We just want a chance to keep our dream alive!
