Kmarko's DraftKings Picks - July 24

KMARKO-HR

Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy baseball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the night before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for tonight, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.

Recapping yesterday –

Day games were OK, if not spectacular:

Cashed like 20 bucks, whatever.

Then came the next slate…

HORRIBLE night.

Barely broke 100 which is just downright embarrassing.

On the bright side, Altuve blew up with 32 points, and Correa was solid in double digits. Value plays didn’t provide the upside I wanted but at least they weren’t shutout. Glad I could get a couple of good picks back up in the blog after a bit of a slump.

Got a huuuuge slate tonight so let’s get into it…

PITCHER NOTES:

-Lot of studs going tonight. If I had to rank the top big money guys it would be 1) Kluber, 2) Felix, 3) Scherzer, 4) Archer.

-Pineda is always a great guy to target for GPPs because of his massive K upside, but you also never know when he’s going to blow up and sink your lineup.

-Going to be important to find value tonight. Both pitchers from the SD/Miami game deserve a nice long look (Haren and Cashner).

-Call me crazy but I kind of like Niese tonight? He’s been hot and the Dodgers are wildly overrated DFS-wise.

-Any pitcher for $4K against the Mets joke of a lineup is worth a peek.

HITTERS

BIG MONEY BAT 1B/3B Todd Frazier $5.8K

And when I say big money I mean bigggg money. Never like to recommend a guy this expensive unless I’m confident he’s worth it, and I got to say you can’t have a better spot than Frazier has tonight. One of the game’s best home run hitters in a matchup with a shitty pitcher at Coors? Yes please. The Reds are the top offense to target tonight in my opinion, and you’ll absolutely have to pay up for it, so start looking for those value pitchers.

OF Carlos Gonzalez $4.4K

Was it just me or did something feel “off” about the Rockies last Coors series? Maybe it was getting totally blanked by Matt freaking Harrison? Every DFS player knows that you can plug in Rockies players during home games and you’re basically guaranteed to get big scores. The trade off is having to pay up for it and trying to manage your pitchers. So when you pay up for Coors guys, and they inexplicably get shut down…it sucks. And it’s weird. So while my confidence may be a little shaken with the usually trusty Coors bats, I’m not jumping off the tried and true strategy just yet. And CarGo at only 4.4K is a great way to get some cautious exposure.

OF Mookie Betts $4.1K

Listen the Sox are a trainwreck right now. Anyone who follows Barstool gets a taste of that every day. So if you don’t like targeting cold teams that are in disarray I understand, I don’t either. But the numbers and the matchup tonight says Mookie is a great play so I’m going to trust in that. The Red Sox are supposedly the top offense to target outside of Coors and have a matchup with the washed up Justin Verlander, and at only 4.1K, there’s not a ton of risk, with a ton of upside. So be wary of this pick, but I’m rolling with it.

VALUE PLAY 2B/3B Luis Valbuena

Everybody knows the deal with Valbuena, it’s pretty much home run or bust with him. I just so happen to like his chances of going yard tonight, and at this price, I believe I’ll be taking the chance. Also will be giving a look Preston Tucker’s way.

That’s it for me, good luck tonight and hit me up @kmarkobarstool with your picks of the night.
