Cloris Leachman Has Passed Away at 94
Cloris Leachman, the Miss America contestant who won an Oscar for her work in The Last Picture Show, then collected two of her record nine Emmys for playing the quirky Phyllis Lindstrom on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, has died. She was 94.
Cloris Leachman is one of the people that my mom and other people from her generation used to bring up all the time to me whenever the topic of funniest actors/actresses. Going back through her filmography, it's easy to see why. Besides having one of the funniest(and most awarded) TV roles ever in Phyllis Lindstrom, she had killer roles in 'Young Frankenstein', 'A History of the World', 'High Anxiety' and much more. My first introduction to her as a kid was actually as Lois's mom in 'Malcolm & Middle
Also, I know a lot of you will probably remember her as a the Grandma from 'Beerfest', for better or worse. She was absolutely hysterical and will be sorely missed. RIP, queen.
