The Barstool Fund - Amelia's Trattoria

Up next: Amelia's Trattoria (Cambridge, MA)

Amelia’s Trattoria has long been a favorite among the Kendall Square academics and professionals, ideal for a business lunch and, with its full bar and carefully-honed menu, even better suited for a wind-down drink after work or a relaxing dinner.

To whom it may concern,

Hi my name is Amelia Susi, I am 13 years old. My parents own a small Italian restaurant in Kendall square Cambridge called Amelia's Trattoria. The restaurant was named after my grandmother who started Amelias with my Dad in the year 2001. After my grandmother passed away my parents took the chance of running their own small business on their own when I was just very small and made it into something that me and my younger brother, Jack admire. My parents are the most hardworking people I know and to see something like Covid affect my family in such a harsh and demanding way, has made me realize that my parents will never give up on something that is so close to their heart. After being closed for three months we opened the doors in early June and were feeling hopeful. Since then it has been a struggle and they may have to close. As I have gotten older I've started to realize the many ways being in the restaurant environment has educated me. It has given me the confidence to talk to customers and taught me the ways of my hard working parents and the loyal staff that work hard to keep Amelia's open. Some of the cooks and waiters that work for my parents have been working with my family since I was born. They have all become a second family to me and to see them suffer during these times is heartbreaking. All of my big memories are always at Amelia's not to mention dinner every night! I just Instagram because I just turned 13 and I have been following everything you guys have been doing. I think it is absolutely amazing what you have done for these small business owners. After seeing my parents stressed out after trying hard to get the first PPP loan I thought I would start composing this email to you guys. I think it is a way better solution. I hope you take my family's situation into consideration.  I attached a video I made for when we finally opened in early June.
