Variety- A series adaptation of “Tales of Dunk and Egg,” a prequel to the events of “Game of Thrones,” is in early development at HBO, Variety has learned exclusively from sources. The one-hour show would be based on the series of fantasy novellas by George R. R. Martin, which follow the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk) and a young Aegon V Targaryen (Egg) 90 years prior to the events of “A Song of Ice and Fire.” No writer or talent is currently attached to the project, but sources say it is a high priority for HBO as the premium cabler looks to build on the success of “Game of Thrones.”

Should the project go to series, it would be the second “Game of Thrones” prequel to make it to screen. The network is currently prepping the series “House of the Dragon,” which is slated to debut in 2022. That show will document the buildup to the Targaryen civil war in Westeros that is known as the Dance of Dragons.

Alright, I may be acting like a bit of a bitch throwing that gif up in a blog about a new Thrones series but it just felt good to be snippy because let's be honest. HBO has a lotttttttt of work to do in order to get back in the good graces of literally millions of people that had their excitement of a good ending to a great show dracarys'd to ash in that final season.

HOWEVAH, and this is quite a big howevah, I feel like we can't ignore how good Thrones was at its peak. It took a little bit of time to understand, but I think Thrones may have been the best show ever when all things were clicking. Granted, it's lows were just as low as its highs were high. But if we believe in George RR Martin's writing back when he actually used to finish books he was writing, this show can be good. Really fucking good if HBO opens up their wallets to ensure there are only the best actors, directors, and CGI to bring back the horde of people that spent an entire pandemic inside without even considering doing a full Thrones rewatch. For people that don't know the background of Tales of Dunk and Egg, my YouTube Thrones guy Alt Shift X does an awesome job breaking it down.

Again, I have no problem if people want no part of this series because they are scared the creators are going to mail the fuck out of the last few seasons after it sucks us in. Maybe HBO can be a pal and release all the Dunk and Egg shows at once on HBO MAX or HBO GO or whatever their app is when this series comes out so normal people can give us a full review of the show instead of critics that will harp on it being beautifully shot and poetic or some shit before we invest hours upon hours of our lives into the happenings of Westeros again.

Who am I kidding? If "House Of The Dragon" hits, I'll bury Season 8 of Thrones like a Football Guy buries a pigskin after a bad game, will swear to never talk about it again, and we will be on to Dunk and the Egg. If either of the prequels stink however, you can cuncel da Westeros in my mind forever.

Regardless of what happens, I still feel bad putting the baddest bitch in the 7 kingdoms as the thumbnail for this blog. So let's rewatch the Queen of Thorns tear people apart for 12 minutes straight.
