RIP to Hall of Famer Don Sutton

Damn it.

According to his son Daron, Hall of Famer Don Sutton passed away Monday night. Sutton won 324 games and put up a 3.26 ERA in more than 5,000 career innings pitched en route to the Hall of Fame as a player. But he also was one of the radio voices of the Braves for most of my life — first on TBS and later on the Braves Radio Network — and was inducted into the Braves Hall of Fame in 2015.

I never had the honor of meeting Sutton or anything, but he was just one of those voices that you heard so many times that you felt like you knew the guy — and that's to say nothing of his fantastic playing career. When watching games on MLB.TV, I would oftentimes turn on the radio call instead of the TV booth because I enjoyed Don and Jim Powell so much.

Don Sutton was just a really great person and Braves Country is worse without him in it. Rest in peace to one of the all-time greats.
