Do We Want JuJu In DC Or Is He Too Big Of A Headache?

For as long as I can remember, top WRs have always been the biggest divas and headaches in the NFL. Moss, TO, Chad Johnson, and AB come to mind as guys who were the best and also the most dramatic guys in the league. Always something going on with them. Death, taxes, and top WRs being problems. Story as old as time.

Enter JuJu Smith-Schuster.

JuJu has had a fantastic start to his career, there's not a single doubt about that. Especially because WRs generally take a bit longer to develop, at just 24 years old, JJSS has been great for the Steelers.

Now a free agent, and with Washington in dire need of a WR to compliment future HOFer Terry McLaurin, some would say he would be a perfect fit for the WFT. But is he? And not because of the play on the field, but the antics. Riverboat Ron HATES antics. He is trying to change the culture in Washington and doesn't want any of the horse play, "me, me, me" attitudes, or the theatrics. The dancing on the logos? Not going to happen.

I never really put much credence into narratives. If you're a good player, which JuJu is, I want you on my team. So I posed this question on Twitter

and the results were very varied:

Some people say no way.

But others say yes.

The response was divided but most people said no, not worth the headache.

It's interesting. I don't want the distraction nonsense either. Lord knows we've dealt with enough of that to last a lifetime. Everyone says if he comes here, Ron will not allow him to be a distraction. But then the question becomes, can you even control that type of thing? It's not like Mike Tomlin allowed it, it's just who JuJu is. And that's going to be a hard sell to WFT fans, who are just sick of the nonsense. What if this is only the beginning for JuJu and he has more antics in his future? Is it worth it? Or will he settle down, focus on winning, and be the piece this team needs to get to the next level? That's the billion dollar question.

If we can't sign Allen Robinson, who is obviously going to be the top target, I say sure, let's spin JuJu's tires. Maybe the order should be Robinson, Godwin, JuJu? We need another top WR so badly, I'll gladly put up with a few of JJSS's antics, just not too many though. And besides, what could possibly go wrong?!
