How Crazy is Kyrie Irving? Former Teammate Richard Jefferson Gives Us Some Insight

On today's Pardon My Take, we had three, yes, THREE guests to send you into Christmas. Army Football HC Jeff Monken joined the show to discuss getting the Black Knights into a bowl game, and ESPN's Rachel Nichols hopped on to discuss the NBA's Western Conference. As for the Eastern Conference, recurring guest Richard Jefferson answered all of Mr. Cat and Mr. Commenter's questions about the teams to watch out for, expectations for the Bucks, and his former teammate, Kyrie Irving:

Mr. Cat: You know Kyrie Irving, you were a teammate of Kyrie Irving. How crazy is Kyrie Irving?

Richard Jefferson: I don't Kyrie is crazy by any means. I think he's, you know, eccentric. I think Kyrie's a person that he really wants to be viewed more than just as a basketball player. As a human being, as a father, you know, as an artist. He's been using that term quite a bit. But look, we'd be lying if we said that Kyrie is the most eccentric person to ever come across in the NBA. We'd be lying if we said he's the most eccentric superstar, right? I don't even know if he's even the most eccentric superstar in the game today. Kyrie is just an individual that just, Kyrie is. Kyrie. That's who he is, and I think, as much of the things he does, whether it's the sage, but then Kyrie will get on and just be like, "Hey, this is what I believe in, this is it. If you guys want to make a big deal about it, that's on you, but this is just a part of who I am." So, I just take him for that.

Mr. Cat: You answered the question, by the way, when you said, "Kyrie is Kyrie." Anytime you say, "Kyrie being Kyrie," or...

Mr. Commenter: Manny being Manny.

Mr. Cat: That answers it right there, so thank you.

Richard Jefferson: You're welcome.

Mr. Cat: I agree, just Kyrie being Kyrie. Let him be himself.

Mr. Commenter: So, which Head Coach of the Brooklyn Nets do you think is most likely to win Coach of the Year this year?

Richard Jefferson: (laughing) God, I love your questions. I missed you guys, can I tell you how much I missed you guys?

Mr. Cat: We missed you, too, man! We missed you, too.

Our SAT word of the day here on Pardon My Take is "eccentric." It is defined as: "(of a person or their behavior) unconventional and slightly strange." That seems like a fair way to describe Kyrie Irving, and it was nice to hear what a former teammate of his had to say about the former Duke Blue Devil.
