The Scientist That Discovered The Ebola Virus Is Now Warning Us A "Disease-X" Much Worse Than Covid Is On the Way
Daily Star- A scientist who helped discover the devastating Ebola virus says a future pandemic will likely be "more apocalyptic" than coronavirus. Professor Jean-Jacques Muyembe Tamfum has worked on the frontline of identifying new pathogens since 1976, when as a young researcher he took blood samples from victims of the then-unknown disease that killed almost 90% of patients.
Prof Muyembe now runs the Institut National de Recherche Biomédicale (INRB) in Kinshasa, capital of the DRC and warns more zoonotic illnesses - where pathogens jump between animals and humans - are on the horizon.
"We are now in a world where new pathogens will come out," he told CNN.
"And that's what constitutes a threat for humanity."
Covid-19 is a zoonotic disease, with the prevailing theory still being that the virus made the jump to humans at a wet market in Wuhan at the end of last year.
The virus has upended the world, decimating economies and killing more than one and a half million people in 12 months.
But Prof Muyembe says future pandemics will be even more devastating, saying "yes, yes I think so" when asked if they will also be "more apocalyptic" than Covid.
Well here's the other shoe dropping.
With all the fantastic news the last couple weeks about the Covid vaccine being deployed and a stimulus bill finally being passed, it seemed like too much positivity. So here's Prof Muyembe dropping in from the clouds to tell us all not so fast my friends
"Disease X" is the perfect fucking name for this virus that's gonna make Covid-19 look like a love tap. So do have to say well played to Professor Muyembe on that.
If we're talking animal diseases jumping to humans becoming the norm then I think I'm fucking out.
You know that gross orange shit disease puppies get where they just piss out of their ass and it stinks like nothing you've ever smelled? Can you fuckin imagine if that crossed over into humans? You think having diarrhea is bad? Imagine humans having giardia (medical term, thanks google) People shittin their brains out and then dragging their asses all over the floor?
No fuckin thanks.
Or what about Monkeypox?
What the hell is monkeypox you ask?
It's only been recorded a few times in central Africa but if these animal to human diseases become a regular thing this is what you can expect that 4 you take home from the bar in a blackout looking like once she pops that top if monkeypox is in play-
And you thought herpes was bad.
