Kerryon Johnson Says He'll Be Auburn's Next Head Coach With Just One Catch

More than a week after firing Gus Malzahn, Auburn still does not have its new head football coach. And not only does it not have its new coach, it's being turned down by the likes of Louisiana's Billy Napier. Things aren't going great on The Plains.

So after firing a coach who went 68-35 in eight seasons, things are not going as well as Auburn had hoped they would. Fortunately, the Tigers have an alumnus who says he's willing to leave his current job as an NFL running back to coach at his alma mater. The only small catch is that he says he will be paying his players, so Auburn might find itself in a little bit of trouble with the NCAA.

Honestly, this doesn't sound too much different than how Auburn has conducted its business for years anyway, so I don't think this would be too much of a hang-up — although I don't know if I can still say that given the state of things at the University of Tennessee, but nonetheless. At least there's somebody out there who seems to want the job.

And who knows, if Auburn keeps getting rejected at every turn, it may eventually need to turn to Johnson to take the job.
