Remember That Chicago Rapper "G-Herbo" That Got Arrested In Massachusetts For Identity Theft And Racking Up Millions In Trips, Cars, and "Designer Dogs"? Well He Just Released A New Song Called "Statement" In Response To The Charges, And It's Exactly What You'd Expect

A couple weeks ago when this story broke I blogged about the ridiculousness of the charges and asked what in the fuck are "designer dogs"?

Well, yesterday he made the smart business decision to respond to the charges publicly and for the record, on a diss-track directed towards prosecutors and his haters.

Tribune- Chicagoans are used to seeing someone facing a federal indictment play it safe in the public arena, usually addressing the charges with a terse no comment or a bland, attorney-vetted statement.

Not G Herbo.

On Friday, the Chicago-born rapper, whose real name is Herbert Wright III, came out with metaphoric guns blazing, using a new song and video to mock the federal wire fraud conspiracy indictment filed against him in Massachusetts and tout his rise from troubled South Side streets to international acclaim.

“Ask about me, I ain’t never been a fraud,” he said in the two-minute video titled “Statement,” released on social media at midnight. “I worked hard from the start, in my city I’m a god, (expletive).”

Set to a driving, throwback beat and replete with fancy cars and grainy images of the Los Angeles skyline, the slickly produced video shows G Herbo, who also goes by Swervo, at one point throwing up hand signs and bragging about the nonchalance with which he turned himself in to face the charges.

“Heard they looking for me, I’m like, ‘Oh I’m on da way,’” he said in the video. “Bond money? No I’m straight. I spent $130k right outta the gate. They like, ‘Swerve, stay safe,’ I’m like, man y’all late.’”

He also seemed to challenge federal prosecutors who brought the case, saying he barely knows some of his co-defendants and that, “Before you put it on my name you gotta show some proof, dumbass.”

“I can’t break like I’m bulletproof,” Herbo rapped. “And I can’t say what I wanna say all I’m gonna say is before fame, (expletive) I been the truth.”

Well isn't this every defense attorney's dream?

Usually, high profile lawyers will tell their clients not to speak to anybody, especially the media and public, during an ongoing case or investigation. It can only cloud the waters and give the prosecution more ammo.

Well G Herbo is the kind of man that zags when everybody else is zigging.

How else did he become "a God in his city"? (his words, in the new song, not mine)

Usually, Federal prosecutors wait to file indictments until they have a pretty slam dunk case. But obviously not in this case here since according to G Herbo-

And I could've bought the Rolls last year but instead, I bought a four-flat
That's no bap (No bap)
Pro Chicago, I'm pro 'Raq (I'm from the 'Raq)

He didn't need someone else's identity to buy his Rolls Royce in their name. He could have bought one last year but he bought a 4 story house instead. Dummies.

I, along with G Herbo's team, "The Terror Town Crew", look forward to his day in court and his name being cleared.

p.s. - G Herbo is also on the record stating if he and Melania Trump are ever in the same room she is his. And that his wife will understand and will support him in doing so.
