Reader Email: STOOLIE IN NEED OF SOME HELP

Smitty,

I’m reaching out as a die-hard Stoolie (and former Smokeshow) and was wondering if you could help out a local family in need?

I was diagnosed with brain cancer 3 years ago at the age of 21 and I’ve been fighting ever since. I’ve underwent multiple surgeries and have endured over 18 months of radiation and chemotherapy. Even though I’ve been through the ringer, mentally and physically over the past few years, I realized I never wanted someone else to go through the life changing physical, mental, and financial stress that me and my family have been through over the past few years, so I started a non-profit organization, The Victoria Rose Fund, to raise money for local families who have been affected by cancer and are in need of emotional and financial relief. We also makes donations to CHOP, Jefferson, and UPENN. We’ve been able to do this through our annual fundraising event and donations from across the country. This year’s event is a “beef and beer” at Barnaby’s Aston, it’s $40 – all you can drink & eat. We take over the whole establishment, watch the Birds, drink some beers, rip some shots, eat, buy some raffle tickets and raise some money for a good cause.

This year I decided to donate to a local family who is need of immediate help. Their daughter is 7-month year old, Charlotte Grace, who was diagnosed with the same exact cancerous tumor that I was: Medulablastoma. She has not experienced in her short amount of time on earth. She’s been fighting cancer and struggles every day to receive nutrients and stay alive through a feeding tube. I want to raise as much money as I can for her and her family, because I know this strong little girl will get through this with the love and support of everyone involved. I’ve seen what us Stoolies are capable of when united for a common purpose and I hope we might be able to come together and help Charlotte’s family.

I know you probably get requests all the time and If you can’t help I completely understand.

Below are a few pictures of me and my journey over the last few years. [Bottom of the blog]

Wow. Talk about being the most selfless person in the universe. Victoria has been fighting brain cancer for years and all she cares about it wanting a little baby girl in the same battle have the chance of a life of her own. Absolutely amazing.

If there’s one thing about Stoolies I pride more than anything else is we look out for and take care of our own. We’re a family here. We can bust each other’s balls to the ends of the Earth but as soon as an outsider takes a shot we’re all ready to fight. Well, that’s exactly what’s going on here. Cancer is coming down on this little future Stoolie and a Smokeshow requests our help. I saw an inspriational level of outreach from this degenerate community during #HELMETSTRONG last year (RIP Carl). It would be great to match that positive effort in regards to the Victora Rose Fund and help this baby fight the good fight. Leave Charlotte a Viva and let her know we’re on her side. #RightOnFightOn #FUCKCANCER

UPDATE:

I Tweeted out an update months ago and meant to blog it, but they just emailed in today and everyone is doing great. Over $15K was raised for Baby Charlotte and she’s doing great. We may be degenerates and savages, but we’ve got hearts in us. Well done, chaps. Well done indeed.

Email:

Yo Smitty,

Here’s a quick update on baby Charlotte. Thanks again for helping our organization raise 15k for her and her family. Have fun in Avalon with the boys this weekend.
