Get Ready For Ads On MLB Jerseys And Helmets!

If you've been paying attention to the changes in sports over the last few years, this shouldn't come as a surprise to you. NBA jerseys are littered with logos now, NFL practice jerseys have had them for years, it's only a matter of time before we see more and more logos added to the baseball jerseys. People flipped a shit last year when Nike took over the jerseys and dumped their logo right on the players chest, 3 weeks into the season no one even noticed the swoosh. But we all know why it's happening, the money. Last year Sports Business Journal predicted that teams could average between $6-8 million annually with ad deals for uniforms, that seems like enough to make some teams want to go for it, especially in a pandemic. I’m actually kind of shocked it hasn’t happened already.

I have a feeling we'll get the same outrage with these ads at first. People will complain that it cheapens the look of classic jerseys like the Cubs, Sox, Yankees, and Dodgers, but lets be real. No one is actually going to care or be upset. No one cares the Nike logo is there this year. It's another way to bring in some cash as well, which is why the league is doing this in the first place. The KBO and some other leagues overseas do it and I'm sure no one gives a hell, again it was only a matter of time before it made its way to the bigs. If it's like the NBA, you won't even be able to notice them during the actual game. So no one is going to care if you slap a logo on the side of a helmet or sleeve, people will just complain because that is what the masses are doing.

Seems like the players are already on board with it!
