Nova's Coaching Staff Refused To Let Jay Wright Hang Out With The Players Because They Were Scared He'd Talk About The Loss To Virginia Tech

[Source] - With Villanova’s encampment at the Mohegan Sun Arena’s “Bubbleville” having stretched out to a seventh day on Sunday, two of Jay Wright’s former players, assistant coach Mike Nardi and director of basketball operations Dwayne Anderson, had a request for their coach.

“They stressed to me, ‘[The players] need to get away from us, and really, you,’ ” Wright recalled Monday in a Zoom call with reporters from Uncasville, Conn.

“We actually gave them a free day away from us where we promised them as a staff we wouldn’t talk to them about Virginia Tech,” Wright said. “We wouldn’t make them sit and watch film about Virginia Tech. We set up a walk outside. Dwayne wouldn’t let me walk with them in fear that I might talk to them about Virginia Tech.”

This is where having former players on the coaching staff is a win. They know how annoyed you can be sitting around with your coach. It doesn't matter how good of a dresser Jay Wright is, he's not 18-22 years old like these guys. He's still Coach Wright to them. Not only that but he just straight up refuses to leave the bubble

I actually love that. It's the best. Just keep playing games, especially because it means there are more games on my TV now. That's a win-win for everyone. This year more than any others losses don't really matter as much. There's always an excuse, it's just look decent while losing. The NCAA Tournament committee basically said they are worried more about the eye test. Obviously Nova doesn't have shit to worry about. 

I'd like to think Jay Wright got pissed that his coaches wouldn't let him around his players that he just played hours of blackjack instead. Actually that's why I hope he refuses to leave the bubble. Just wants to keep hanging out at the casino and coaching his guys. Just move the Big East Tournament to Connecticut now. Hell, two of the teams are already in the bubble. Just keep moving them there. 

Fucking Jay, man. Crazy how different he's viewed now after the two titles. Gotta get Scottie Reynolds on staff next though with Nardi.
