Linsanity Part II? Knicks Reportedly Interested In Bringing Back Jeremy Lin

Whoa, are the Knicks looking to get the band back together!  Somebody find Steve Novak’s ass and lets make some more magic at The World’s Most Famous Arena (just make sure that Landry Fields and Jared Jeffries don’t find out about anything).  It seems like only yesterday the Knicks chose Raymond Felton’s doughy ass over the poison pill in Jeremy Lin’s contract and Linsanity just vanished like a fart in the wind.  And while we are talking about that poison pill, Rockets GM Daryl Morey can go to hell just for being “that guy” in the NBA and ruining peoples’ dreams with poison pills and savvy numbers wizardry.  A lifetime of having to watch Dwight Howard fall short in the playoffs for Houston seems like a fair karmic penalty, however.

Anyway, back to Lin.  The weeks of peak Linsanity were among the best sports runs I can remember in NYC during my lifetime.  The Giants had just marched to their second Super Bowl championship of the Eli Manning era while this young, Asian point guard came out of nowhere to create so many memories and kiiiiiind of racist nicknames/headlines.  And did you know that he lived on his brother’s couch as he was trying to become a full-time player with the Knicks?  Because if you didn’t, you weren’t alive during Linsanity.  That is basically all we heard during Linsanity, AKA the greatest heater anyone has ever gone on in NYC since Mikey McD in Rounders.

Now it’s just a matter of how Phil sees Lin fitting into the triangle and if Dolan is still butt hurt after reports said he was upset after Lin turned down the Knicks’ offer that Kazoo Jimmy thought he had basically agreed to.  In my heart of hearts do I definitely want Lin on the Knicks?  I think so.  I mean he clearly has his weaknesses and he will never become the guy that went on that torrid run full-time.  But you are flat-out lying to yourself if you don’t think having Lin back in New York could lead to some more memories.  Since the Knicks passed on Emmanuel Mudiay for Dirk 2.0, there is a spot for someone like Lin.  I’m really not sure what will happen with Jose Calderon, Langston Galloway was fun to watch but still a relative unknown, and Jerian Grant is a rookie.  It may just be a headline grabber before free agency begins, but I love the “thought” of Jeremy Lin being back in New York, which is much more than I can say for when the Raymond Felton Knicks Era 2.0 began.

And if you told me this was another move for Phil Jackson to troll Melo, I would believe you.  Back when he was coaching the Bulls, The Zen Master would always go in the media and tweak the Knicks players, coaches, and fans.  And I hated him for it.  So I wouldn’t be surprised if part of this was to tell the Knicks’ “favorite son” that Phil is in control and he may bring in a player that has had words with Melo through the media multiple times.  Or he just wants to improve the franchise that he loves more than almost anything in the world.  Yeah, that’s probably why he would sign Lin.

And since I mentioned Novak earlier, I had to include what is still one of my favorite gifs of all-time
