It Sounds Like The Blue Jays Want To Blow Up The Rogers Centre For A Brand Spanking New Ballpark

Boy oh boy am I a sucker for a new ballpark, won't find a bigger ballpark guy than myself. Rumors are swirling that the Blue jays and their ownership are looking to demolish the Rogers Centre in Toronto and build a brand new park. Crazy because the stadium was only built in 1989, but it does have an outdated look. From the outside looking in it looks like a basketball or hockey arena, mostly because of the circular shape. It also has the retractable roof and the hotel in center field, 2 cool features but lets be real, it doesn't look the greatest. Now the Blue Jays owners have some deep pockets, so a new stadium is probably in the cards for them. We're seeing a new age where these stadiums are still pretty young but getting torn down. Atlanta, Texas, now Toronto. It is wild to look at Toronto's ballpark which opened in 1989 and Camden Yards which opened in 1992. Camden is still considered the top of the line ballpark, while Rogers Centre is getting ready to get blown up. But with every ballpark and stadium in the world turning into an attraction in itself it makes sense they want something new.

(BTW Ham Fighters is a fantastic team name)

Obviously these are renderings, and to me they kind of have the warehouse look that the new Rangers stadium has, but sign me up for it. The see through windows look wild, and because they want it in the same spot as the previous park, you'll be able to see the CN Tower when you pop the top off that roof. Say adios to the hotel though. If this is a realistic thing that's gonna happen, I can't wait to see what the new park is going to look like. Going to be a fun few years with those young kids in Toronto, might as well break in a new park with them soon.

I will miss seeing these fifth deck BOMBS in Rogers.
