It's Laughable How Effortless Patrick Mahomes' Game-Winning TD Drive To Beat The Raiders Was Last Night

With 1:43 left on the game clock in Week 11's Sunday Night Football game, the Raiders retook the lead thanks to a clutch throw and catch from Derek Carr to old man Jason Witten. It was also at that very exact moment that the Raiders lost the football game. Now Vegas had just orchestrated a 12 play 75 yard drive in 4 minutes to take the lead so there's no shame in that, but leaving Mahomes with 103 seconds and a timeout to play with meant the game was over. There was a better chance of me waking up with a full head of hair in the morning than Vegas stopping Mahomes on that drive. The automatic-ness of that game winning series was laugh out loud funny. There was never a single doubt in anyone's mind that the Chiefs were going to win the game right then and there. A field goal would have sufficed and sent the game to overtime, but Mahomes never even considered that option. 7 plays 75 yards in 1 minute and 15 seconds.

Truly effortless. It was like we were watching a practice. Shockingly enough, this was the first time Mahomes has thrown the game winning pass in the final two minutes of regulation. That's a stat that seems wrong, but I'm gonna take Trey Wingo's word for it.

Was this a product of Paul Guenther calling the softest defense imaginable to end the game? Certainly didn't help their cause, but the greatness of Mahomes at this point shouldn't stun a single living soul. Quite frankly I'm not sure why they ever run the ball. Obviously Edwards-Helaire and Le'Veon are a very solid tandem in the backfield, but if the Chiefs just cooked with their two minute offense all the time how would anyone put up enough defensive stops to win a football game? I guess their own defense would tire out being on the field so much, but KC would put up 60 a game without hesitation. The only way to beat them is to keep the ball out of Mahomes' hands, run the ball, bleed clock, and pray the game works out where you have the ball last with time to score. The Raiders were almost there, but fucked up the last part. Credit to Derek Carr for going toe to toe with Mahomes in both games this year, he was two minutes away from an unprecedented season series sweep outta nowhere.

15 is just so surreal to watch. If he's not the MVP again at this point something is wrong. I know it's so early in his career and this is far from a hot take, but it seems impossible for Mahomes to play a full career and not go down as the undisputed greatest QB of all time. How 15 years from now is that not the case? Dude's a living legend.
