Which they won’t. A) Because they’re cheap, stubborn and incompetent. B) Because they waited too long now. Its too late. The ship is going down. After the winning streak to start the season, people argued that since there was an abnormal streak of wins to start in April, there’s going to be a matching string of losses to even things out later in the year. Which is nonsense. It doesnt have to be that way. But here we are, 7 straight losses, about to be swept by a team 20 games under .500. Another bad weekend and that winning streak is completely erased and all thats left behind is the .400-ish ball they’ve played all season other than the two aberrations.
Which is just disgusting. This team had such an opportunity to strike while the iron was hot. A hot start combined with struggling division opponents plus all the necessary chips to make a trade for proven offensive talent and make a legitimate run at the division. Instead management and ownership just sat there. Fat dumb and happy. Content to just be in first place in June while they slowly but surely watch their division lead evaporate. Just thrilled that the team will be irrelevant in July this year instead of May. Woo Hoo. You fucking cocksuckers.
And I think this is the first ever Cuncel that I dont blame the players. Yes, ultimately they are the ones who stink. But they’re just not good baseball players. You cant trot this lineup out there:
and expect to win. Those baseball players are not good. Every single one of them is in over their head either at the plate or in the field. Literally every one of them, I guess aside from Duda, who’s just regressing and not that good. Doesnt matter who is on the mound, those players and that offense will lose 2 out of three more often than not.
Coming into the season I expected a lot of 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, losses. But this is fucking ridiculous at this point. Combine that with HORRENDOUS managing from Terry Collins and this is a team set up to fail. And its staring management RIGHT IN THE FUCKING FACE and they wont do anything about it. A billion pitching prospects to move for proven bats earlier in this season would have resulted in a couple more wins. A different manager – literally any other manager alive – would have probably wiped a couple losses off the board. But we stayed pat and thats why this team, still with some of the best pitching in baseball, is below .500 and probably never going to look back. Disgusting.

And don’t blame injuries, and dont you dare…DONT YOU FUCKING DARE…say “Bring Conforto up!” The goddam 22 year old kid who was in Single A this year is NOT the answer to this team’s problems. Rushing him to the show all because you’re too scared to give up something good in exchange for something good is not going to fix things. Quit being PUSSIES and make a fucking move for a real bat. If Steven Matz goes on to be a stud, so be it. If Noah Syndergaard goes on to be an All Star, thats what happens. If a real bat comes back in return and provides some offense for this pitching staff its all worth it. And for Christ’s fucking sake, open the goddam wallet and make a real free agent acquisition for once. Think more Pedro/Beltran than Old Man Cadaver, you pricks.
