Thoughts and Prayers To Nick Chubb Fantasy Owners and Browns -3.5 Bettors

Let me set the scene for you guys:

The Browns closed as 3.5 point favorites today against the 2-6 Houston Texans. It was never pretty, but they held a comfortable 10 point lead with about 5 minutes to go, and then the Texans scored to make it 10-7. And with 1:07 left on the clock, with the Browns trying to run it out, the following play ensued:

The Browns took a knee. 10-7 final. Throw your Browns -3.5 tickets in the trash. What's Nick Chubb's Venmo?

This is why you simply do not bet on the Browns. You just can't trust em to do anything helpful. Because here's the thing: this was 100% the right move. Except for the whole stepping out of bounds to stop the clock thing…..but still. It was 100% correct for Nick Chubb to NOT go into the end zone and score a touchdown. Don't even give the Texans the opportunity for a miraculous comeback. Game over. Browns win. Smart play!

But since when do the Browns make the smart play? The Cleveland Browns I grew up with would've flipped into the end zone, gotten a flag for excessive celebration, given up a quick touchdown, an onside kick, and then watched the Texans kick a game winning field goal as time expired. But we chose to make the smart move? 2020 is wild, man.

Thoughts and prayers to Nick Chubb fantasy owners and Browns -3.5 bettors. I hope the Browns victory was a good enough consolation prize for everyone. If it makes you all feel better, we're now 6-3 and in right smack dab in the middle of the playoff race (confirmed Filet Mignon, not Filet-O-Fish).
