Is Jackie Chan Going To Keep Doing Action Movies Until One Kills Him?
Covert security company Vanguard is the last hope of survival for an accountant after he is targeted by the world's deadliest mercenary organization.
I'll be completely honest with you guys, this looks like shit. I know this may be a hot take for all of you reading this after watching that trailer, but it's true. The CGI lions, CGI car chase, crappy looking gunplay are a pretty easy warning sign as to the quality of this slop. Although I will say that two things caught my eye.
1. Chan making the guy shoot himself in the balls and saying "Why'd you shoot yourself". Classic inspector Lee
2. The giant drone shooting off missiles was actually cool as all hell
For Jackie Chan, I'm curious when enough will be enough. He has had an insanely long career spanning from 1962, doing stunts on Bruce Lee movies like 'Enter the Dragon' and 'Fist of Fury' before becoming a starring man in the 70s and 80s, then breaking into Hollywood in the 90's. In recent years, he's done mostly Chinese movies, including a quite bad one called 'Dragon Blade' co-starring Adrien Brody and John Cusack, No, really. I'm not fucking with you.
Anyway, he's had a 58 year career doing action movies! He's the 13th richest actor in the entire world as of 2020! He's mostly beloved worldwide as well.
I think it's time for him to take a break, maybe play some older chaps in some dramas or something. Or maybe come to the US permanently so China can't blackmail him into being their mouthpiece anymore (unless he is actually super pro Hong-Kong police, in which case he is just an asshole).
