Weekend Music Dump November 1, 2020. The Strokes, Outkast, Rage Against The Machine, Vin Diesel, Deftones, Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande and More

Here's this weekend's music dump.

The Strokes went on SNL last night and ripped it. (John Mulaney also killed it) They preformed "Bad Decisions" which is a nice nod to Billy Idol's 'Dancing With Myself", and "The Adults are Talking" both singles off their newest album The New Abnormal which is fucking fire. Rick Rubin produced it and gave The Trokes a whole new sound. Listen to it here -

- Billie Eillish put on a live-streamed concert on the 24th which drew a ton of fans and a ton of praise. Where Do We Go?: the Livestream is the first of what will become many virtual concerts now in the Covid era. She sold tickets (logins) on her website for access. "Using state-of-the-art XR technology, multiple cameras, angles and 3D environments, ticket holders were be able to step inside the 18-year-old star's world, as she performed a fully live set."

- Harry Styles dropped his newest scenic music video from his Fine Line album on Monday Oct. 26, that he filmed no the Amalfi Coast. 

- T̶h̶e̶ ̶N̶o̶s̶e̶ Ariana Grande joined Tik Tok if you're one of the people that care.

- My queen Dua Lipa dropped released another smash single, "Fever" featuring Angèle. 

- Sam Smith released a new album, Love Goes featuring his hit single "Diamonds"

- Carly Rae Jepson released a Christmas song, in October, titled "Its Not Christmas Til Somebody Cries"

RAP

- First off, there's a Dungeon Family reunion coming in two weeks. Goodie Mob announced a new album arriving November 13th, Survival Kit featuring André 3000, Big Boi, and Chuck D.

- Busta Rhymes dropped a new album, Extinction Level Event 2, and it's fuego. It's full of features including Q-Tip, Mariah Carey, Rick Ross, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar. He went on Fallon to promote it and did his song with Anderson Paak "Yuuuu"

And his song with Kendrick uses an iconic Michael Jackson, Jackson 5 sample -

- Common released a new album, A Beautiful Revolution Pt 1. featuring Stevie Wonder, Lenny Kravitz, and Black Thought. 

- The BET Awards took place featuring several live performances.
There was this freestyle by Rapsody, Jack Harlow, Chika, and Polo G encouraging people to vote

- VERZUZ announced it's coming back for Season 2. It kicks off on November 19th with what is sure to be an epic battle featuring T.I. vs. Young Jeezy

 - This Friday, November 6th Nine Inch Nails is live-streaming a discussion hosted by journalist David Farrier ahead of their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The conversation begins streaming at 2 p.m. ET via the band's Facebook page, Twitter account, and YouTube channel.

- David Lee Roth Dedicated A Previously Unreleased Song to Eddie Van Halen

David Lee Roth has unveiled a previously unreleased song called “Somewhere Over the Rainbow Bar and Grill” in dedication of his late bandmate Eddie Van Halen. The track was recorded several years ago with guitarist John 5 as part of a full album’s worth of material that was shelved.

The song features John 5 on acoustic guitar as DLR reflects on his pre-fame days on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood, California. A still graphic accompanying the YouTube clip contains the words “Hey Ed, I’m gonna miss ya … See you on the other side.” Previously, Roth shared a photo of himself with Eddie Van Halen on Twitter, along with the caption, ‘What a long great trip it’s been.”

Around six years ago, Roth and John 5 co-wrote and recorded an entire album, but it never saw the light of day. Last year, Roth promised the material would eventually surface. “There’s been a revision of things, and I can start making real plans and start marching into the future,” he told Detroit radio station WRIF (via Blabbermouth). “And, of course, you’ll start hearing that material. This is material that we wrote variously for me solo and for Van Halen, and it’s quite a bank of stuff.”

- Paris Jackson, daughter of Michael Jackson just released her first song, "Let Down".

- Gavin Rossdale of Bush and Mike Garson, longtime David Bowie band member, covered Bowie's "Heroes" in a phenomenal piano rendition.

- The Avalanches dropped a new song featuring Leon Bridges that's a jam titled "Interstellar"

- Neil Young shared details for the 50th anniversary edition of his seminal album After the Gold Rush. It’s due out later this year, and on top of its 11 original tracks, the release comes with two versions of the B-side “Wonderin'”.

COS - The deluxe vinyl box set edition comes with special artwork, a litho print of its cover, and a 7-inch picture sleeve of both versions of “Wonderin'”. The first was recorded in 1970 and originally released in The Archives Vol. 1: 1963-1972, while the other is a previously-unreleased iteration that was recorded in 1969. There’s a CD version of this reissue, too, featuring those two “Wonderin'” tracks and the artwork.

Young teased this 50th anniversary reissue all the way back in February, but you may have forgotten that tidbit in the midst of all the other reissues and archival material that he’s unveiled throughout the year. In addition to releasing his long-lost 1974 album Homegrown, he dropped a new EP, announced a 10-disc archival box set, and scheduled an official release of his 1974 Bottom Line bootleg for early 2021.

After the Gold Rush 50th Anniversary Edition will get its CD/digital release on December 11th, while the deluxe vinyl version will be out March 19th, 2021

- Crowded House returned with their first new song in 10 years.

COUNTRY

- Luke Combs is performing a stripped-down set for Amazon Live and will also answer fan questions on Friday November 6th. The show begins at 1 p.m. ET.

- Eric Church released "Through My Ray Bans" - a song painting the picture of him wanting his fans to see a concert from his eyes. Church's signature look of wearing aviators on stage was actually born out of function due to his contacts drying out in the lights during live shows - not born out of some suit saying to differentiate wearing aviators - the establishment is not his style. This is his 5th song released this year, and more to come. Church revealed he finished mastering a new album written AND recorded pre-pandemic in a restaurant-converted-studio in the mountains in his native North Carolina.

-  Brothers Osborne fittingly released the music video for "Skeletons", the title track of their album released earlier this month. The album is a departure from their past works of slower jams (when you have TJ Osborne's sultry baritone, that's what you do - sex sells), and this is full-out rock… will be great live someday.

- Branden Martin - haven't heard of him? Some requested relative unknowns, so a guy with one 7-song album recorded in 2017 qualifies. Martin released "Drunk Again" this week that we can all relate to. The single is a loud, quick-hitter that will get you foot stompin', shoulders shakin', head bobbin'. Scouring the googles and the consensus is this Kentucky native fucks live. Favorite analysis by fellow country musician Dallas Moore, "Folks, if Branden Martin don't light your fire, then your wood must be wet." Dare you not to hit repeat on this one.

- Country artist Cam, who was featured on Diplo's country debute, released her first album and it includes a title track which was written by Avicii - The Otherside

- Vin Diesel released another song. Also claimed Paul Walker encouraged him to pursue his musical career. Song's called "Days Are Gone"

- Mike Tyson released a horrible song. No really. 

- Loud Luxury dropped a new song with Frank Walker titled "Like Gold"
