Israel Adesanya Will Be Moving Up To 205lbs To Challenge For The UFC Light Heavyweight Championship In His Next Fight

Got some more news coming outta Brett Okamoto's post-fight interview with Dana White here, where the UFC President confirms that Middleweight Champion Israel "The Last Stylebender" Adesanya will be moving up to challenge the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jan Blachowicz in attempt to become "Champ Champ" in his next fight.

If successful in this endeavor, Adesanya would join the ranks of Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Henry Cejudo to become the fifth ever fighter in company history to hold championships in two different weight classes simultaneously.

I'm not too surprised by this move; Stylebender wanted Jared Cannonier if he got past Robert Whittaker at UFC 254, and he did NOT get past Whittaker at UFC 254 (who apparently doesn't want a rematch according to Dana?) - and if Rob(?) really doesn't want that fight, there's really no contenders at 185lbs super deserving of a title shot right now in my eyes.

Here, Izzy has the opportunity to go up to 205lbs, get a title shot against Jan Blachowicz, and basically prepare himself/his weight for Jon Jones, who he's eyeing a fight with in 2021....

....and I think it's definitely a smart opportunity to spring on right now.

Imagine having the championship on the line for that one?! Would be fucking ENORMOUS. It'll be huge regardless, but that would really just be a cherry on top.

I'm excited for my close personal friend, however.....
