In The Most Shocking News Today The NCAA Is Doing A *Smart* Thing And Looking At Putting The NCAA Tournament In A True Bubble

Think the NCAA is desperate to have the NCAA Tournament happen? They should be. It's been talked about before but if they don't have the NCAA Tournament this year, college hoops will be on life support. Low and mid-majors really survive on two things - buy games, which aren't happening this year and the NCAA Tournament. We saw the massive hit they took last year when the NCAA Tournament was cancelled.

And you know I'm not the biggest NCAA guy. They pretty much stink with every decision they make, but this is a smart one. America needs the NCAA Tournament. It's the best 3 weeks on the calendar. There's nothing better than that first Thursday and Friday when you take off of work or a half day and immediately meet up with friends at a bar and house and do nothing for 12 hours but gamble, drink, eat and watch college hoops. You cheer for upsets. You go crazy when Mercer beats Duke.

Putting the NCAA Tournament in a bubble is feasible. You can't do it for the regular season because the NCAA would have to change the entire rulebook on student-athletes. They'd show how much of a scam it actually is. But for a couple weeks in March? You can do that. It won't be the same schedule, it would be more condensed and could lead to more mayhem. You could even do it in Indianapolis where the Final Four is supposed to be this year. There are enough gyms with where the Pacers play, Hinkle, Lucas Oil for the Final Four.

We've already seen mayhem with the regular season schedule and teams cancelling events and late scheduling. We can't have that for the NCAA Tournament. Conferences can get unique with how they decide a champion. I don't care if you send a regular season champ as the auto bid, as long as there is round robin played. Conferences like the Big East and Big 12 have everyone play each other twice. The schedule is fair. More low-major conferences should do this and eliminate the conference tournament to be safe. Yeah, I LOVE conference tournaments, but I care about the NCAA Tournament way more. Take no risks and get us to March.
