Former Head Of The USSR Says That The Soviet Union Collapsed Because Of The TV Show "Dallas"

The Cold War raged for 40 years after the end of World War 2. Two great super powers, two WILDLY different world views, nukes pointed at each other that would've ended mankind if anyone ever pressed the button. How did it end? Was it this moment?

Nope.

Was it here?

This didn't do it according to Gorby

Was is the greatest Pope of all time and God himself?

Not powerful enough.

Nope…according to Mikhail Gorbachev the most powerful weapon in America's arsenal was the hit TV show "Dallas"

Mr Stewart, 68, said the Gorbachev admitted an illicit broadcast of the US show in Russia had opened his people's eyes to Western life, and the Texas-based show 'brought down' the communist superpower. The program had portrayed the millionaire lifestyles of the oil tycoon Ewing family. He said: 'He was saying what brought Russia down was they weren't allowed to see any shows from anywhere and they had in the churches they had giant blockers of signals so they'd only get fed the information from the government.

'What Gorbachev was saying it was Dallas the TV show, somebody managed to get a VHS to work and broadcast it to part of Russia and they thought, ''Hang on, that's how people live in America?''

'He said that had more effect, that half an hour, than anything else.'

I don't know one single thing about the show "Dallas" but we need to remake it ASAP and have everyone watch it. A show that just points out that while America isn't perfect, it's still pretty fucking great and WAY better than the systems that have existed in the world for most of human history. It's okay to say that and think that too. America is so great that a black market version of a regular ass TV show about a family in Texas was powerful enough to do what Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, and Reagan couldn't do…it killed the Soviet Union. Absolutely incredible. I feel like now Russia is returning the favor in the news and via social media. Out there trying to make us think that America is this totally evil thing. Not just an evil place, but an evil idea. Don't fall for it. It's still better to be here than there. Have a good day, and god bless "Dallas".
