Universal Says The Fast And The Furious Will End After The Next 2 Films. Yea Fucking Right

Universal Pictures is planning to wrap up its Fast & Furious core film franchise with two final movies that will bring to a close a franchise that has revved its way to become the highest-grossing movie series in the studio’s history. Justin Lin, who is in post-production on F9, is in talks to direct the final two installments and bring a saga that began nearly 20 years ago to a close.

It’s early days on when this will begin production but it seems likely they will tell a big story over two films that will focus on franchise patriarch Vin Diesel and bring back Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel and Sung Kang.

Fat fucking chance.

Here's the deal. We all joked years ago about how eventually the Fast saga was going to end up with Dom Toretto cracking open a ice cold Corona in space. Well, we're apparently getting that in F9. The question you might be thinking is "where do you go from there?". Space is such a lofty, improbable goal for this franchise that started criminals boosting panasonic tube TV/VCR player combos that it almost seems possible to pass it. Lemme tell you how, the multiverse.

Let's get the fast universe crossed with Mad Max, Baby Driver, Terminator, Mission Impossible and more! Even if you don't go outside of the franchise, there are other things in-franchise like the show Spy Racers that they can use. Or even give us a multiverse opposite version Dom Toretto that HATES family. You can even name him Aaron Rodgers if you want.

The point is, there is plenty of more milk left to this cash cow and I doubt Universal will give it up. Don't forget that F10 was slated to be the last one years ago and those goalposts have already been moved.
