Motorcyclist Tells Driver Not To Text And Drive, Gets Clipped By The Driver In Response Seconds Later

YouTube – On March 26, 2015, I was driving to work on my motorcycle. It was a fairly typical commute, full of cagers cutting me off, merging into me and generally just not paying close enough attention. As I was filtering up to the front of a light, I noticed one particular man in a black BMW convertible. He was very busy texting and talking away on his mobile phone. He became visibly angry when I told him to put down his cell phone while he was in his car. Even after he honked at me, much to my surprise, I kept my cool… I didn’t flip him off or get into his face, however much I wanted to. Once the light turned green, I proceeded through the intersection, making my turn. Behind me, the BMW driver came flying up behind me very aggressively. After a couple of blocks, he pulled into the center lane to my left and, once he was parallel with me, swerved his car into my lane, knocking both my bike and myself to the ground. Without slowing, the driver took off down the road.

Aside from a significant amount of bumps and bruises, I suffered a severe concussion (bad enough for me to forget what day, month and year it was and knocking all memory of the past week out of my head), two hairline fractures in my left shoulder and a broken left foot (which would require surgery).

I’m not going to advocate that it’s a good idea to hit motorcyclists or bicyclists just because they’re annoying, overstep rules of the road all the time, and generally seem like total buttinskis about what cars are doing on the road. But was this driver texting and driving affecting this dude in any way at all? It’s a red light, they’re not moving, maybe the guy’s not paying enough attention on the road but so what? That’s a problem for him, just speed ahead of him to get away from his negligence and stop trying to hallway monitor on the road. No other person in a car would do this, it’s just the smug sense of entitlement that bike people have for some reason. You’re the fucking ants of the road, the bottom of the food chain. Exist and try not to make waves or else you deserve every bit of the “talk shit get hit” justice that this BMW is slinging around.

Also FYI, a “cager” is a derisive term bikers of all sorts use for people inside of cars so you can definitely tell where this guy is coming from. Sounds a little racist tbh. Feeling like I have to put an “a” there instead of the “r” to reclaim the power.
