Don't Look Now But The Steelers Are 3-0 For The First Time In 10 Years

Hey now hey now ho now!

The Steelers are 3-0 as I predicted they would be back in May. 3-0. Sure, it's been against teams with bad records, and by bad I mean they combined have literally not won a single game, but hey you play who is on your schedule.

3-0.

The last time they started a season 3-0? 2010. What happened in 2010? The Steelers went back to the Super Bowl. Just sayin!

What I loved about today was two things especially. 1, they played a clean game offensively. No turnovers. It was the first time they've done that since December 2018. Over 25 games! Big Ben started a little rusty but after that he was in complete control. Put up two quick scores to regain the lead after trailing 14-3, then put together the game winning and sealing drive with relative ease in the 4th quarter.

So far Roethlisberger is completing over 60% of his passes, has thrown for over 700 yards, 7 TDs and only 1 INT. Clean, playmaking football that the Steelers so desperately missed last year. Thank God.

2. The Steelers defense made some serious, serious adjustments at the half and completely shut down Deshaun Watson in the second half. Watson was making it look easy in the first 30. 21 points and two touchdown passes in the first half. Second half? 51 yards of offense, 1 INT, sacked 5 times, and shutout.

Truly was a "tale of two halfs" as they say. Let's hand out some game balls.

Keith Butler

Let's tip the cap to the D coordinator here. Taken a lot of heat over the years but after a shitty start to the game, he was able to get his squad squared away like I mentioned in the stats above and completely dominated the second half. You'll only get away with success for so long against this defense.

Mike Hilton

God I love Mike Hilton. Just such a football player. Constantly timing up perfect blitzes, disrupting the backfield, and hey even today got himself another pick. He led the team in tackles with 8 while also adding a tackle for loss. He's having a great year three weeks in.

Eric Ebron

Uh oh. The Big Ben-Ebron connection is starting to get strong. Ebron was the leading receiver on Sunday and added his first touchdown as a Steeler. 5 catches. 52 yards. A third down conversion and a touchdown. No drops. I mean really can't ask for much more than that from Ebron. Hell of a day.

Chuks Okorafor

Tall task having to block JJ Watt all day. Right? Nahh. Not for Chuks today. The guy has been phenomenal since taking over after week 1 after Banner tore his ACL. 0 tackle for loss. 0 QB hits. 0 sacks for JJ today. You know how you got a good offensive lineman? When you don't hear a peep about them during the game. Chuks has done that and then some the last two weeks.

3-0 with the first real test and on the road coming in Nashville next weekend against The Boys.

Here We Go.
