Giannis Spinzoned The Hell Out Of The Bucks Getting Eliminated By Putting Out Quotes Saying He WON'T Demand A Trade This Offseason

[Yahoo] - “It’s not happening. That’s not happening,” Antetokounmpo told Yahoo Sports after the Bucks were eliminated in five games in the second round by the Miami Heat on Tuesday night.

“Some see a wall and go in [another direction]. I plow through it. We just have to get better as a team, individually and get right back at it next season.”

Antetokounmpo, 25, is eligible for a super-max extension this offseason that is expected to be worth around $254 million over five years.

This is a great quote. This will make Bucks fans feel all warm and fuzzy despite being knocked out of the playoffs before the NBA Finals for a second straight year as a No. 1 seed with the MVP. That said, it doesn't mean shit until that super-max is signed. It's not even about the trade. Giannis can turn down the super-max and still leave in free agency after next year. Just because he's not requesting a trade doesn't mean he won't leave Milwaukee.

It's a great spinzone though. Get everyone talking about how Giannis is coming back to Milwaukee. How he's ready to get better and build on this year and bounce back from missing this last game and a half due to injury. This instantly becomes the bigger Bucks story than them getting eliminated. That becomes a Heat story with this being the Bucks focus.

I'm torn on what I think Giannis actually does. I can see him staying in Milwaukee. They've adjusted the roster. They aren't afraid to try and get him help based around shooting. But at the same time, you're telling me he could pass on playing in Miami or Dallas? I know he's close with Masai, but I still don't understand him leaving Milwaukee for Toronto in a couple years, especially if Toronto loses Fred VanVleet this offseason.

Again, of course the Bucks weren't going to trade Giannis this offseason unless he came out and demanded one. Even then you wait a little bit if possible to try and switch his mind. This isn't exactly some drastic shift, it's more just waiting for the super-max decision. If he turns it down, we get free agency talk for a year. If he signs it, then it's who can the Bucks sign to help keep the floor spread and help Giannis there.
