NHL And NHLPA Are Reportedly Talking About Having Four Bubbles For The Regular Season Next Year

Every once in a while a tweet or article hits me right in the fucking brain/heart/tear ducts and this one did it. "Coronavirus" and "next year" should not exist in the same sentence. I don't want to hear that. In my brain this was a 2020 only problem. The clock would strike midnight on 1/1/2021 and poof, covid-19 would be a thing of the past like magically or something. Then we'd just talk about it in past tense and talk about how crazy it was as we were going about our daily lives like shaking hands and...being in public. NOPE. Apparently fucking not. This news absolutely sucks. It's good that the NHL is making plans, but hearing about this continued reality of BULLSHIT is a tough pill to swallow.

No idea how feasible this is. Asking players to be away from home for an entire year seems impossible to me. I think guys participated in this bubble knowing that it was a finite period of time with a Stanley Cup waiting at the end. I can't imagine guys on shit teams like LA or Anaheim would sign up to surrender their lives of an entire season. That seems just like an impossible ask. I applaud the league for thinking ahead but man, I don't see how this could possibly work.

The bubble does "work", but it is no way to live
