As they say, every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end. And this, folks, is what they were talking about. The end of an era in Washington. The great Ian Mahinmi, the 28th pick in the 2005 draft, the 6'11 forward from France, is no longer a member of our Washington Wizards. Sad fucking times.

It was only 4 short years ago the Wizards missed out on Kevin Durant so they did the next best thing, signed Ian Mahinmi to a 4 year, $64 million deal.

He was coming off a career year where he averaged 9 and 7 and shot 58% from the line, how could you miss out??? Thank goodness Ernie Grunfeld was quick on the trigger and shoved $16 mil a year into his face.

And how did Ian fare? I believe the proper word would be gangbusters.

Boom. Played 1 full season. 180 games total. He scored over 20 points in a game twice…both this season!!!

And I'm not even blaming Mahinmi. What was he supposed to do, tell the Wiz not to pay him? Tell Ernie to save the cap space? Hell no. Dude came in, got injured nonstop, and since he's damn near 7 feet tall, will without a doubt play 5 more years in the league.

So safe travels, Mr. Mahinmi. I will be in awe not only of the money the Wiz paid you, but the fact they could never move your contract in a trade. It was just that bad. You will always be a legend in my book.
