Right Now We Need The Postal Service More Than Ever

The internet has been tweeting nonstop about The Postal Service and I have to agree, we cannot let them disappear into the abyss. Can you believe "Such Great Heights" came out in January 2003??? That's insane to me. The song is so old they literally built it by sending samples and snippets back and forth through the mail. There was no drop box, just the good ol' postal service.

"Such Great Heights" is easily one of my favorite songs of all time. Yeah I'm also a sap when it comes to these kinds of things, but how does one even write something so whimsical?

I am thinking it's a sign
That the freckles in our eyes
Are mirror images
And when we kiss they're perfectly aligned

And I have to speculate
That God Himself did make
Us into corresponding shapes
Like puzzle pieces from the clay

It's just brilliant. There's a reason Rolling Stone named it the 27th best song of the entire decade.

And don't sleep on the follow up single, "The District Sleeps Alone Tonight". It might be better than Such Great Heights, depending on how sad you are that day. I mean holy shit these lyrics

You seem so out of context
In this gaudy apartment complex
A stranger with your door key
Explaining that I'm just visiting
And I am finally seeing
Why I was the one worth leaving

Anyone else have flashbacks to college (or last year, whatever, nobody is judging anyone here #TrustTree) listening to this on repeat?

I would love nothing more than for The Postal Service to come out of nowhere and drop a new album on us. They haven't performed since 2013 but I think it's time. I'm ready for it. The world is ready for it. Let's do it.
