Its official, the first test in the first Stanley Cup title defense in St. Louis Blues history will be against the Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks have taken 2 of 3 from the Blues this year and while I like the matchup on paper for the Blues, they have a lot of weapons and will be a tough opponent. They also have the luxury of coming off a series win against Minnesota while the Blues have gone 0-3-1 in the 4 somewhat exhibition games since they have started back up in the bubble. Not exactly encouraging results but it doesn't matter at all right now. Its a brand new season (THANK GOD).
The Blues looked much better in a tight game vs the Stars today and gave me some better vibes going into the hardest tournament in sports. Its tough to take a TON of positives since this is the second game in a week they have gone on to lose after being up in the last minute, but we're NOT HERE TO BE NEGATIVE! They haven't exactly rolled on anybody since they've been in Edmonton but they've also played the very best teams the West had to offer so I would think we shouldn't read too much into it. Time for a brand new season and HOPEFULLY some brand new results. Let the Rat Dance.
