Seeing A Map Of What The Beirut Explosion Would've Done To Chicago Is Jarring

I don't think there is a person on the planet who saw the videos of the explosion in Beirut that wasn't left in awe by the size and destruction of it. One of those things that you just can't forget. Obviously a giant explosion, but if we are being honest the VAST majority of Americans have no idea what Beirut really looks like. It's hard to wrap your mind around the scale of how far reaching the damage is if you don't understand any landmarks. This map really puts things into perspective.

Navy Pier's ferris wheel would be destroyed.

The Playpen would be at the bottom of the lake

The columns at Soldiers Field might have shaken

Wrigley And Sox Park would need to file some insurance claims

Even that spectacular athletic facility on the lake at Northwestern up in Evanston would need all new windows

The scale of this thing was incredible. Even kids at Carl's beloved Brother Rice would've needed to duck under their desks for cover. Just unbelievable.

Seeing the map and the landmarks does two things. 1) Puts everything in perspective and 2) reminds us how lucky we are to live in the most beautiful city on the planet. Thank god we've never had anything like that since Mrs O'Leary's dumbass cow set the entire city on fire.
