Eagles Bring Back Future HOF Tackle Jason Peters For Another One-Year Dance

So...THIS is the huge, game changing news Baldy and others have been tweeting that was going to drop this week?  Ok.  Cool. Didn't want Clowney or Yannick, anyways.  However, this is still a good thing, especially after Brandon Brooks went down.  And it was probably going to happen even if the all-world guard didn't rip his Achilles.  Sure, Jason Peters is currently a 38-year-old LT who was constantly injured (or just spent) during games for the past few years.  But he's still a first ballot HOF who is quite possibly the greatest lineman in Eagles history.  Peep these:

  • Super Bowl champion (LII)
  • 9× Pro Bowl (2007–2011, 2013–2016)
  • 2× First-team All-Pro (2011, 2013)
  • 4× Second-team All-Pro (2007, 2008, 2010, 2014)

Peters at 40% of what he once was still may be a better option than most on the field (assuming he can stay on the field through 4 quarters, which is a big assumption). Not to mention he's essentially been a father figure to a bunch of these guys for a decade.  Now Andre Dillard doesn't have to fill the HOF's shoes, 100%.  Hopefully he'll at least be able to wipe with his dominant hand, because that of course for some reason makes a difference. Regardless, it's good to have Peters back.  Even if he isn't what he once was at only for a short while...

PS - Greatest trade in Philly history? Got Peters in '09 for a first, third, and conditional sixth. 10 years, most of which were prime in one of the most important positions on the gridiron. If it's not #1, it's up there.

PPS - Didn't even see the terminology of the Tweet...the Eagles sign "G" Jason Peters.  They expect him to bump inside which is...interesting...
