Well damn it. This is not exactly the news I wanted to receive on my Fourth of July.

The Braves' new $39 million closer getting coronavirus and being symptomatic would have been bad enough, but then in true Braves fashion, Freddie Freeman comes down with it. And it sounds like he actually has it the worst out of anybody, as Braves manager Brian Snitker said it will be "a while" before Freeman is able to come back.

Just a fantastic start to the season. All I can hope at this point is that Freeman is not only able to recover, but then still decides that he wants to play this season. With mike Trout saying he's still undecided about playing this year, a player like Freeman getting COVID and then sitting out the season could possible cause quite a few huge dominoes to fall.

Freeman is coming off a 2019 season in which he hit .295/.389/.549 with 38 HR and 121 RBI. Losing him in a 60-game season could possibly be enough to knock the Braves from World Series contender to out of the playoff picture. It just goes to show that this season isn't going to be normal.

Just please be ok, Freddie.
