Vindog's No-Nonsense Frozen Mudslide

With summer fast approaching, I'm preparing my drink menu and while I'm manning the grill on a hot day there's nothing I enjoy more than a "No-Nonsense Frozen Mudslide". Sure, to some it's nothing more than an adult milkshake, but who says that's a bad thing?

Here's everything you'll need to make "Vindog's No-Nonsense Frozen Mudslide" (no drizzles, garnishes, sprinkles, or fancy straws for this bad boy):

Coffee Liqueur

Vodka

Irish Cream Liqueur

Vanilla Ice Cream

Ice (cubed)

I mix equal parts of  Tito's Handmade Vodka, Kahlúa, and Baileys, but you can choose your favorite brands and adjust the mix to suit your taste. Because crushed ice melts quickly and disappears in the blender, I use cubes.

According to nutritionix.com, a 12-ounce frozen mudslide made with Vodka, Kahlúa, Baileys Irish Cream, and vanilla ice cream has 662 calories and 14 grams of fat. Other websites put it even higher (800/27). Drink enough of them and you will get drunk, you will get fat, and you will be happy! (I'm all in!)

I think Frozen Mudslides, like any frozen drink, taste better when they're made to order. I make enough for my guests and then make another batch when they're ready for refills. And, there will be a call for refills!

My recipe makes approximately 48 ounces/6 cups.

Drop 3 cups of ice cubes into a blender. Pour 6 oz each of Kahlúa, Vodka, and Baileys on top. Then add 3 generous scoops of your favorite vanilla ice cream. (Mine is Breyers French Vanilla)

Go through your normal progression in your blender. I like a smooth Mudslide with bits of ice throughout. (Listen to your blender!)

In small groups, I serve my "No-Nonsense Frozen Mudslides" in 20 oz. stemless wine glasses, but when I'm mixing for a lot of hard-core party-goers, I pour 'em in Solo Cups and I've never had a complaint!

If you make it right, you'll be tempted to gulp it, but to avoid the dreaded brain freeze, it's better to sip and savor!

Enjoy Responsibly. (or not)
