A Great Season With A Bad Ending

Hey what can you do? It was a great year. Everyone predicted Maryland would finish between 8th and 10th in the Big 10. They lost their leading scorer and rebounder from last season. But the Terps instead finished 2nd in the Big 10. You can’t take that away from them.

I wrote it twice about tonight’s game- it was a bad matchup. I called WVU the most underrated team in the tournament.WVU’s strengths are Maryland’s weaknesses. And we saw it. Add in bad ref’ing and Melo Trimble getting murdered, and that’s all she wrote. Losing Melo was obviously the turning point. Having him sit on the bench with a concussion when he wanted to get into the game was brutal. Especially when we have no reliable backup. Hard to win a game vs the top turnover team in the country and their press without a PG.

Dez Wells played his last game for Maryland tonight. Guy has been a class act since day 1. I hope an NBA team takes a flier on him.

And now we just wait to see what Melo decides to do–NBA or come back for one more. I hope he comes back. This team has so many young guys who are only going to improve on this year’s success. They can be the real deal if they continue playing together.

So yea. Felt great to be back in the tournament after a 5 year stretch of sitting at home. But now I’m just hungry for more. Til next time, go Terps.
