Jameis Winston Isn't Going To The NFL Draft Where He's Expected To Be The #1 Pick

Jameis Winston does not intend to attend the draft in Chicago. Rather, he plans to spend the draft with his family and friends down south. At least, that’s the plan for now.

Which got me to thinking: When is the last time the first pick of the draft—Winston is the leader in the clubhouse—did not attend the draft to be congratulated by the commissioner?

I thought the “want to spend more time with family” line was reserved for coaches looking to dip out of their current jobs to take a spot at a better school without seeming like too much of an asshole?  Jameis just flipping the script and using it to avoid getting mercilessly booed on national television.  Can’t say that I blame him for it, is it really worth the humiliation just to get a free hat and a picture with that scumbag Goodell?  Might as well just stay home and party with your friends where there’s a much better chance nobody will be chanting in your face about rape and crab legs.  Not often you can say this but, smart move Jameis.
