Great Drone Footage of a 24 Million Dollar Yacht Burning To The Ground Over The Weekend

Gker - Footage of a massive fire on a $24 million yacht named “Polar Bear” was caught on a drone camera by a man named Kurt Roll, who immediately uploaded it to YouTube. It is beautiful, in a horrifying sort of way. Roll added this description to the video: I filmed this approx. 10-15 minutes after the fire started . I was filming a friends boat in south bay close by when we saw the smoke coming from The marine groups yard. This was fascinating to watch through my monitor, but having a boat myself,I couldn’t help thinking of how horrible it would be to have your dream boat go up in flames. I’m sure the insurance will replace it, but wow , what a bummer and a hassle.

The owner of the yacht, Larry Jodsass, spoke to NBC San Diego about the fire: “Am I angry? No. Anger is not the right word. It was my toy, my wonderful, beautiful piece of equipment. I think it’s the most beautiful boat that ever has been built.” Jodsass said the yacht took him five years to build and had been in the water for three years. A witness told NBC that he and his crew were doing welding work on the yacht when it caught fire. The shipyard was evacuated as a precaution, and fire officials said two workers suffered minor smoke inhalation injuries.

I know that feeling. There was nothing worse as a kid when your favorite toy broke. I remember it like it was yesterday, I had this toy gun that lit up and made like one of five different noises each time you pulled the trigger, then on the 6th time you pulled it, it did all 5 noises consecutively. It was, to understate it, the most amazing piece of machinery ever assembled. And then one day I was playing with it outside practicing my sweet Power Rangers moves and it went flying out of my hand into a tree and broke. So yea, I think I totally understand how Larry Jodsass feels about his boat. It sucks to see the one thing you care so much about just go up in flames like that. But we’ve all been there Larry. Some toys just aren’t meant to last. 10 dollar toy guns, or 24 million dollar yachts, potato, potato. At the end of the day, it’s all the same, really.

PS: This is Larry.

He is without a doubt probably one of the most fun people on Earth. Just lovin life and crushing ass all day every day. Only the most bad ass motherfuckers on the planet non-ironically call their 24 million dollar boats their “toy”. He loved that thing 100x more than you or I love anything. Hate to see him lose his toy like this. What’s he gonna do now, just boy a non-custom made yacht like a common poor person? Vomit.
