Iowa State Goes For Second Big XII Title In As Many Years Tonight
For the second straight year, Iowa State is looking to cut down the nets, and tear down Kansas City with a Big XII Championship tonight. Unlike last year, the Cyclones get to do it against the Voldermort of college basketball, Kansas.
The opening round game and last night’s win over Oklahoma were essentially the same game. Missed shots, down by double-digits, taking over late, and let’s figure out a winner on the last possession. Sure, that’s fun and all, but probably won’t work against Kansas. Hate them like a red-haired step-child, I might, but respect the program, I do.
Luckily, ISU has been here before, and this Kansas team hasn’t. There are a few leftovers from the 2013 KU team that won the conference title, but for the most part these guys remember losing in the semifinal round of the tournament last year to ISU, the eventual 2014 champion. Also lucky for ISU, Perry Ellis is banged up, meaning arguably the best player on the court has a bum knee.
Speaking of bums, Bill Self is still the coach of Kansas. Advantage Iowa State. Yeah, I went there.
There is not a prediction I can give on the outcome of the game, other than predicting that the Sprint Center will be rocking, and the city of KC is pleased to have these two teams playing in its tournament. GO STATE!!!!!!!!
