Never Forget Seahawks Draft Pick Darrell Taylor as a Freshman: "We're Gonna Whoop Their Fuckin' Ass"

Congratulations to the Seattle Seahawks for selecting former Tennessee Volunteer Darrell Taylor. He had a great career at UT and I believe he's going to be a great edge rusher in the NFL.

But even with all his on-field highlights, his most memorable moment in college came as a freshman in just his second ever game with the Vols. Before taking on Virginia Tech at Bristol Motor Speedway — one of the coolest sports experiences I've ever had, by the way — Taylor was asked what was going to happen in the game.

His response: "We're gonna whoop their fuckin' ass." And thus, a rallying cry was born.

THAT is the attitude you want in somebody whose job is to get past a 320-pound guy and go hurt the quarterback. The kid in that video was a 19-year-old redshirt freshman. Imagine what he's going to be like when he's 25.

Taylor had two tackles in that game, but went on to record 118 — including 26.5 tackles for loss and 19.5 sacks — in his college career, leading to his selection in the NFL Draft. I hope DT takes that attitude and turns it into a successful professional career.
