Wheaton College Football Team Forced To Apologize For Parody Video Of The Ku Klux Klan Scene from Bad Boys II

NYDNIt was meant to be a team building exercise, but consisted of Ku Klux Klan outfits and Confederate flags.

Members of Wheaton College’s football team have issued an apology after a “satirical parody” attempt of a scene in the 2003 movie “Bad Boys II” was deemed “racially insensitive” by the school.

During an event in one of the Illinois school’s gyms, a group of about 20 student athletes, led by two African-American students, reenacted the Hollywood scene involving actors Martin Lawrence and Will Smith.

It was intended to be funny while poking fun at the racist hate group, but it drew outrage and concern among the campus community.

“The team captain acknowledged his poor judgment in failing to consider the inherently hurtful meanings these symbols carry, though it was clear the skit was not motivated by racial hostility,” the school stated in a public response to the skit.

The evangelical Christian college’s president, Philip Ryken, said once word of the students’ actions reached his ears, he immediately organized a 1 a.m. meeting on March 1. In attendance was the football team’s captain, members of the Student Development staff, and football coaches.

“I was shocked when I first heard that symbols with a history of racist violence had been used on our campus,” Ryken said in a statement to the Chicago Tribune. “Although I was somewhat relieved to learn — almost immediately — that the skit was intended to subvert racism, not promote it, I also knew that when students heard what had happened, it would understandably cause a lot of distress. Recent incidents have shown us how issues of prejudice and sexual misconduct damage trust and disturb the peace. Sadly, this is a campus where we have sins to confess and people to forgive every day,” he stated.

Haha too perfect.  Don’t even have to make a point, the president of the college summed it up all by himself.

“I learned immediately that the skit was put on as a statement AGAINST racism, led by two black students, but I knew that in today’s age once people heard about it with no context whatsoever they would get really upset and get their pitchforks out for a witch hunt, so I had to condemn it to save face.”

Paraphrasing a little bit but I think that’s the gist.  I mean you would think that the “led by 2 black students” part would be enough to put any racism concerns to bed.  Even if you didn’t get the satire the fact that the parody video you think is offensive and promoting racial hostility towards black students…was put on by black students.  No no, couldn’t possibly have that much common sense, not in 2015. Better off making everyone apologize, and while we’re at it, let’s disband the football team and expel the captains!  Hope that’s the next step.  Ban all football teams and fraternities and any organizations where more than 4 males are present in the same place at the same time.
