One Of Baseball's Greatest Moments Happened On This Day In History: The Fenway Pizza Throw

You don't have to be a Red Sox fan to appreciate the greatness of this moment from 13 years ago. It's truly one of the funniest things I've ever seen happen on television at a sporting event.

It didn't make any sense to me.

Was it just a guy in the moment wanting to make a name for himself? Was he fist-pumping and accidentally let the pizza slip? Well, the pizza thrower eventually gave his take on the incident during a Red Sox game...

There is no great excuse for wasting a slice, but if there ever was one, this might be it. The guy was being a real dick and deserved to get sauced in the face with a giant slice. I can accept that!

It was also a fucking missile out of the hand. A perfect toss that should go down as an all-time fan moment in sports. You don't see throws or shots that perfect during halftime or between-inning stadium and arena contests.

I also must mention how great of a call (as per usual) this was from Don Orsillo and Jerry Remy. They were such an infectious duo and the "here comes the pizza!" followed by Orsillo's laugh was the cherry on top.

Why was Orsillo not brought back by the Red Sox a few years back? How did they let him go? He's easily one of the best team announcers in sports.

They had another iconic moment a few years back that is a belly laugh every time for me: the Fenway Park Boob Grab.

I am laughing hysterically as I type this! I've seen the clip 1,000 times!

The "oops," followed by nearly 30 seconds of silence, and then Orsillo not being able to even speak gets me every damn time. Great announcing goes far beyond just the balls and strikes in baseball. What you can do in between pitches makes the broadcast. What an announcing duo!
