Step Brothers Bloopers & Outtakes Are Almost As Funny As The Actually Movie

Normally I am not a big fan of bloopers or outtakes from movies and shows. The few clips of actors and actresses messing up scripted lines can be funny, but it gets old after a while.

This isn't the case at all for the 'Step Brothers' gag reel.

The gag reel for this movie is essentially 13 minutes of deleted scenes. There was so much improv that you're just watching highlights of hilarious that weren't used for the movie. My favorite stretch hits around 4:40 where Will Ferrell cannot figure out the best way to deliver his alternate lines. Watching him struggled to say "last July I was doing so much fucking" and "last summer was like my biggest summer for pussy" will always be hilarious to me.

As a whole, the movie is so fucking timelessly funny. It's a classic at this point. I'll never understand why the initial sentiment around this movie was so negative...

Read some of the reviews via Rotten Tomatoes:

"They're just a freak show, an excuse to give us such 'gags' as Reilly emitting the longest and noisiest fart in screen history, and Ferrell exposing his scrotum and wiping it over Reilly's drum kit." - via Daily Mail

This is a 15-minute sketch - based on crude humour -- stretched out to the length of a feature film. For Ferrell fans only. - Sunday Times

Oh, Brothers, this is one of the worst movies of 2008. - Tulsa World

One of the worst of 2008!? The fucking disrespect. Maybe it isn't the funniest movie of all time, but to put it in the class of movies from 2008 such as 'Disaster Movie', 'Meet the Spartans', '10,000 BC' and 'The Love Guru'? That's wild. Did they even watch the movie? The same thing happened for their other movie, 'The Other Guys', a few years later. Now they're both held in high regard.

My favorite part of the movie is personally Adam Scott's Derek. He's so good at playing a complete and total douche and he flexes the talent in the Bonita fish dinner scene...

We all need a good laugh today, as we sit here quarantined, so why not dive into peak Adam McKay-Will Ferrell content.
