Gillette Stadium Is Your Host Of The 2016 Winter Classic

(WEEI) — The Bruins will host the Canadiens in the 2016 Winter Classic at Gillette Stadium, WEEI.com has learned from league sources. The Jan. 1 meeting between the two clubs, which has long been speculated, will be the second Winter Classic the Bruins have hosted. The B’??s defeated the Flyers in overtime at the 2010 Winter Classic at Fenway Park.

I’ve already said what I have to say about this when it was a possibility that Gillette gets it so you can check that out here. I would’ve preferred if this ended up at Fenway, but I’ll take the Winter Classic however I can get it. I still think the feeling around Fenway will be impossible to beat. I know people bitched about the seating and ice vision at Fenway but that wasn’t really what it was about. If you’re trying to see every little bit of a hockey game while you track Bergeron’s Corsi and Fenwick scores then go to a game at TD or watch from your couch. Winter Classic is for the experience and I just think Fenway’s would have been better. But, I recognize it’s a business and if you can double the amount of seats you sell then it would be silly not to. Nonetheless, see everyone at Gillette for a 6 AM tailgate.
