BREAKING: The 2020 Open Championship Has Officially Been Cancelled

The Open- The R&A has decided to cancel The Open in 2020 due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. The Championship will next be played at Royal St George’s in 2021. The Open was due to be played in Kent from 12-19 July but it has been necessary to cancel the Championship based on guidance from the UK Government, the health authorities, public services and The R&A’s advisers. This is the first time since the Second World War that golf’s original Championship, first played in 1860, has been cancelled. The 149th Open will be played at Royal St George’s from 11-18 July 2021. The 150th Open will be played at St Andrews from 10-17 July 2022.

And there it is. Rumors started swirling last week that the R&A had decided to cancel the Open Championship at Royal St. George's but now it's been confirmed, CANCELLED. Like everything that happens now, nothing can be called unexpected, but it is still shocking. We're numb to it at this point because literally every event in the world is either being postpone or cancelled but it's just bizarre that there won't be an Open Championship this year. It looks like we're still gonna get the US Open, PGA Championship and Masters at some point (who really knows but maybe) but what we do know is that no one gets the Claret Jug this year. Unreal. Obviously small potatoes compared to the real shit that's going on in the world right now but still crazy.

It hurts even more on this particular Monday because today was supposed to be the start of Masters week. Fucking sucks man. I just wanna go on record and be clear about one thing, I hate the coronavirus. All of this is 0.00000000% fun. No one is having a good time and I'm ready for this virus to GTFO and never return.
