Here Is a List of Every Place I Have Stayed Since Becoming A Corona Refugee
I left China on December 19th to spend Christmas in Japan. Then returned to USA on December 28th for what I thought would be a month of reconnecting with family and friends in MA and friends and coworkers in NYC. My initial plan was to head back to China at the end of January as I don't like to ever miss a Super bowl Monday.
However, once the Corona got out of Wuhan, it became apparent that China was the last place I should be returning to. My only apartment on the planet was officially off limits. That kicked off 2 months of me living a nomadic existence all over the map. Now thankfully I'm confident I was never carrying the coronavirus as I got out of Shanghai (500 miles from Wuhan) before it started to spread in Asia and never showed any symptoms. If I did have it though, I would most likely be classified as a "super spreader" as I've slept in so many different places since the end of January. Anyways, here's the list:
1. Parent's guest room in MA
2. Friend's couch in MA
3. Friend's guest room on 72nd street in Manhattan
4. Shaun Latham's apartment in NYC a few weekends while he was on the road doing shows. Thanks for that bud. Your apartment has an incredible view.
5. Friend's couch in Chelsea NYC. He had an app that let you change the colors of lights on skyscrapers, it was pretty neat.
6. KBnoswag and Chuck Naso's futon
It was just as awkward as it sounds, however, we did get to catch up on old Maury episodes which was more fun that I expected.
7. Friend's aero-bed in Brooklyn.
8. One night sharing a friend's king size hotel bed a couple blocks from the office because it was a late night and I didn't want to have a long commute brutally hungover.
8. Friend's couch in Hoboken. It was my first time hanging out there and just gotta say their Italian food is incredible. Go to Otto Strada. It's BYOB so if you bring a couple $13 bottles of the wine you get an incredible meal, a solid buzz, and don't end up with an outrageous bill. Order the Tortellini dish.
9. Airbnb for a week in Jersey city where I got to visit their famous Colgate Clock.
In Jersey City I also got to walk around their waterfront dropping #boatfacts, one of my favorite past times.
10. One night at Aloft Hotel in Harlem
11. Airbnb in Spanish Harlem for a week. Went to Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater, which I would highly recommend. You're allowed to boo bad acts off stage instead of just suffering through second hand embarrassment like at most comedy shows.
12. Three nights at Aria Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas (thanks for the invite Dana)
13. One night at the Hyatt Hotel in Morristown New Jersey
14. Two nights at friend's parent's apartment in Morristown New Jersey
15. Two nights at a cliffside rental in Eleuthera Bahamas
16. Porno Dave's House in Eleuthera Bahamas (he's the stranger on twitter who invited me down there to wait out the virus. Awesome person, definitely a porn guy)
17. Cocodimama Resort in Eleuthera Bahamas
And now I'm back in the US holed up in a Holiday Inn Express in Aiken South Carolina because we don't want to run the risk of giving Covid19 to my girlfriend's parents after spending yesterday in two different planes and airports.
I'm not gonna lie, I've actually had a blast reconnecting and meeting people all over the country these past couple months, I just wish it was under different circumstances. The quarantine comes for us all eventually though and I'll be spending the next couple weeks with as little human contact as possible. If you've given me a safe place to rest my head while I've been a corona refugee just know it's been immensely appreciated and I owe you one.
P.S. I'm definitely starting to miss my apartment in Shanghai as this ordeal has been a tad exhausting. However the only way I'm getting there is by doing a two week quarantine in a random chinese hotel that I have to pay for myself, have to eat whatever food they choose to give me, and get arrested if I ever leave the room. Stay tuned.
